Throngs(!) of avgeeks at 2022's Dorkfest; 2024's event will be held on Saturday, September 14.

Nick will be attending two big avgeek meetups with a commercial, airliner-centric focus again this year and would love to meet you - look for the big guy in a JetTip hat and say hi!

Airliners International

Kansas City, MO; June 26-29, 2024

Airliners International is an annual show; the main focus is a large flea-market of airline-adjacent memorabilia and collectables. Lots and lots of 1:400 diecast aircraft, along with plenty of vintage ephemera - safety cards, playing cards, timetables, china, art, you name it. They'll also have tours of nearby museums, contests for best postcard, photo, and model, as well as group dinners, and a banquet with a great speaker and extraordinarily challenging trivia.

If you don't have time to spend several days in Kansas City, drop in on Friday or Saturday to check out the flea-market, speakers, and the various contests.

JetTip is proud to be sponsoring Airliners International again this year - our highly-sought event keychains will be included in registrant swag-bags.

SpotLAX / Dorkfest

Los Angeles, CA; September 13-15, 2024 (SpotLAX) / Saturday, September 14 (Dorkfest)

If you're looking for laid back time and place to hang out with other avgeeks and enjoy world-class plane watching, SpotLAX and Dorkfest are just the ticket.

Cranky Dorkfest is the marquee, must-do event of the weekend, where you'll get the chance to hang out and watch airplanes with several hundred other avgeeks. The raffle has previously included trips, models, and tours from airlines large and small. Attendance of around 400 seems to be the norm for the last few years. Thanks again to Brett Snyder at Cranky Flyer for organizing again this year.

If you're looking to make a long weekend out of it, the folks at NYC Aviation host SpotLAX to provide a few more opportunities to visit with friends new and old. A few details are still being worked out, but expect the following for a combined itinerary:

  • Friday Night Welcome Party
H Hotel, $15 tickets required, on sale June 15
  • Cranky Dorkfest
Saturday, 11am-1pm, park across from In-N-Out, free
  • SpotLAX Dinner
    Saturday Evening, Details TBD
  • Donuts on the Hill
    Sunday, 9am-11am, Imperial Hill, free

We're really looking forward to Friday night's party at the H Hotel, and appreciate the efforts of NYC Aviation and Airline Videos to enable inexpensive access to one of the best vantage points at LAX.

We're excited to sponsor Donuts on the Hill on Sunday morning, and will be providing our customary spotting checklists, event keychains throughout the weekend.
